Our community garden provides fresh, high-quality vegetables while bringing people together in a community project, not only for local families but also the YMCA's healthy foods initiatives.
We are proud of our collaboration with the town of Mansfield and other community partners to educate and involve the community in growing and learning about fresh produce. We promote healthy and active lifestyles by connecting individuals to the food they eat and grow.
The mission of the Community Garden is to educate and involve the community in growing and learning about fresh produce and to promote healthy and active lifestyles through reconnecting individuals to the food they eat and grow. The garden abstains from pesticides and chemical fertilizers and uses only organically produced seeds.
Our Mansfield Community Garden, located across the street from 386 Essex St in Mansfield, offers a CSA Share program for those interested in purchasing locally grown and freshly harvested organic produce weekly.
This is a community effort, with a focus on volunteers. Our work with Mansfield Garden Club and Green Schools includes offer free workshops, service learning opportunities and plot rentals.
We now have community gardens at all of our Hockomock Area YMCA branches where staff educate and involve campers and volunteers to grow and learn about fresh produce. The produce grown is sold in branch lobbies as well as donated to local food pantries.

The garden will strive to produce a typical 1/2 CSA share of produce each week (approximately 5-8 lbs/items). Weekly, participants can plan on receiving produce enough for 2 adults or for a family wanting to supplement their produce. That averages out to roughly $3/lb. Crops planned for distribution throughout the season include: lettuce, kale, chard, bok choy, arugula, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, cabbage, squashes, cucumbers, broccoli, melon, beans, peas, onion, potatoes, radish, beets, turnip, carrots, herbs, and more.
Due to the unpredictability of the growing season, varieties and quantities of vegetables may vary.
Roughly 20 weeks (June – October). Produce will be harvested and prepped for pickup by the garden coordinator’s team and participants can choose to get their shares at the garden Tuesdays or Thursdays from 3-6pm.
Please have your application in as soon as possible, as we are accepting shares on a first-come, first-serve basis.
