Y Sports programs focus on fun, teaching kids sport-specific skills while helping them grow personally by clarifying values such as sportsmanship and fair play.
A great way to get kids playing ball, YMCA Youth Baseball puts kids on the field and gives them a chance to hit, catch, throw and learn all about how sportsmanship can be fun.
Not only will children have an opportunity to improve their technique, but they’ll also build social skills, gain confidence and develop leadership skills. Dedicated volunteer coaches are trained to set expectations, and help kids find their strengths. The Y accepts individual and team registrations. Contact your branch Sports Director to apply to volunteer to coach.
The progressive nature of YMCA Baseball provides a fun experience for kids at any level. Coaches teach the fundamentals of catching, throwing, hitting and teamwork. Every kid plays in YMCA leagues. Games and equipment are developmentally appropriate to maximize fun and success.
For our youngest players, the tee provides them with a stable ball while learning the basic motions of hitting, and when they are ready our coaches will begin pitching to them. Coach Pitch provides a friendly face for players when the pitch starts coming at them.
In league formats, players participate in 3 weeks of practice with their coaches and teammates, followed by 5 weeks of games against other teams of similar skill. Players receive a team jersey. Baseball programs run during Spring, Summer and Fall.
