Our Member Policies help ensure a quality experience for everyone.
At the Hockomock Area YMCA member service is our top priority. We are committed to being a preferred, quality provider in all programs and services in our defined service area. If you have a comment, question or concern please request a Member Comment Card at any of our Member Service Desks or contact our Member Experience Director. We pledge to provide our members with an appropriate response in a timely manner. We are so proud of our staff and our programs that your satisfaction is guaranteed or a refund will be issued.
For any questions about membership, or to join the Y, please contact our membership team.

Making sure the Y is safe for kids and families is fundamental to all that we do. Throughout our programs, in our facilities, and with carefully trained staff we implement strict policies to ensure safety. A few of them are described below.
Members under 10 years old must be supervised by an adult when visiting the facility; child must be within an arm’s length of the adult. Adult members must be physically present in the pool with children eight years old and younger. A parent swim pass is available for parents of our youth members for a daily cost of $5.
Full members have the benefit of a 2 hour daily period of time to utilize child watch. This feature is available for $5 to Program Members and Youth Members. Parents must remain in the Y facility. Request a card from the Member Service Desk to present at child watch check-in. Children must be signed in and parents/guardians must indicate where in the facility they will be. Only the adult signing in the child is authorized to do sign out.
There is a policy in place to protect youth, ages 10-15, interested in working out in the Wellness Center and in traditionally adult-oriented Group Exercise Classes. We ask that youth go through a fitness orientation with our staff, to ensure a clear understanding of the equipment and safe use of the environment.
All new members are charged a joiner’s fee. Funds from joiner’s fees are deposited into the Capital Improvement Fund and used for facility maintenance. All existing members must renew within 30 days after membership expiration (see below for reinstatement fee information).
Because we appreciate our members’ continued loyalty, members who are rejoining more than 30 days after, but less than one year from their lapsed membership date will pay only a reinstatement fee of $25 instead of paying the joiner’s fee.
Persons wishing to try out the YMCA* may purchase a day pass at any Member Service Desk. A photo ID is required for all visitors, age 18 or above, at each visit. The fee for a day pass is $6 for persons of high school age or younger, $8 a day for senior citizens, $12 a day for persons between 18 and 62 years old, and $18 a day for a family.
All visitors 18 years of age and older are required to show photo identification upon each visit. If a visitor cannot comply, he/she will be denied access to the facility. If joining as a new member, we also ask that each adult, age 18 or older, who will be on the membership, come in person and provide photo ID.
We offer confidential financial assistance to families in need. Please download a Financial Assistance Application (or ask for an application at the front desk) and contact our Scholarship Committee at 508.695.7001.
We offer the opportunity to preview the Y by participating in a class(es) as a Program Member with no access to other Y amenities. A Program Membership costs $30 annually (plus the cost of classes at the Program Member rate). Class fees will be approximately 33% higher than the fees pertaining to full members. Program Members do not have access to online registration (must do so over the phone or at the desk) and must wait 7 days after full member registration begins each session.
Members are required to provide their own locks for daily use and to refrain from bringing cell phones into the locker rooms. Also, please be careful not to leave valuables unattended in the facilities.
Full refunds are granted only for programs cancelled by the YMCA. No refunds are issued after the start of the second week of a program. Members who complete a refund request form at least seven days before the first session of a program in which they are registered will receive a refund for the program cost. Members who choose to cancel their class registration less than one week before the start or up to two weeks after should follow the same procedure; however they will receive a refund for only 50% of the class.
In the event that a member’s bank draft is returned to the YMCA for any reason, a $5 processing fee will be charged to the member. Also, in all instances in which a personal check is returned to the YMCA, a $20 processing fee will be charged.
The safety of our members and staff is a priority for our YMCA. During extreme weather conditions we employ an inclement weather policy, using our website home page to alert members of any facility closings or delays and class cancellations.
If the Y experiences a power outage or if weather conditions are such that it is unsafe for members and staff to get to the Y, the Hockomock Area YMCA’s leadership team will make a decision to close or delay opening by 6:00am weekdays and by 7:00am weekends. Our website will reflect this decision.
It is our intention to operate Child Care and our school-age School’s Out program during regularly scheduled hours. Please be sure to provide your contact information and cell phone number to the facilitator of your child’s program who will alert you in case of any delay or cancellation.
We want to get you back to the Y as soon as possible, so if a storm occurs that leads to multiple days of school cancellation, please know that we may decide to run programs. We will alert members when this happens.
