YOUTH GYMNASTICS

Y Sports programs focus on fun, teaching kids sport-specific skills while helping them grow personally by clarifying values such as sportsmanship and fair play.

Perhaps nothing is better than gymnastics for helping kids to develop balance and coordination, plus the confidence that’s won as a child takes on new challenges. All of our gymnastics classes use age-appropriate equipment, and our teaching program works with kids of all ability levels.

Preschool Gymnastics

We offer classes for girls and boys ages 2 – 6. Children have the opportunity to begin in gymnastics class with a parent, working toward taking a class on their own and then progressing through the preschool levels.

Youth Gymnastics

For school-age children, we offer classes based on the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic Development Program. Covering a progressively challenging course, we begin with Rollers, then progress through Swingers, Flyers, Twisters, and Pre-team for Girls. Also, for boys, we offer beginner and intermediate classes.

Gymnastics Team

Gymnastics is one the most popular national competitive sports leagues offered at the Y. We call our team ‘X-TREME Gymnastics’ because it offers rigorous gymnastics workouts, as well as team-building experiences for children ages 6 through the teen years. The team consists of female gymnasts level 4 through 10. These gymnasts are learning USA Gymnastics routines and getting ready for competition. Registration is open to members from all Hockomock YMCA branches, provided they receive a recommendation slip from their gymnastics director.

Gymnasts compete in USA Gymnastics meets as well as YMCA meets. This provides our gymnasts with the motivation and recognition they need to succeed in the sport. We feel that USA Gymnastics is an important governing organization and provides a more challenging arena to showcase our gymnasts’ talents.
